Fittingly given much of the lore of the game, the Year of the Dragon is the Year of Guild Wars 2. The ArenaNet team has officially confirmed that, yes, the game will be released this year. I doubt many people expected otherwise, but it is still nice to get the actual confirmation. What is more interesting, however, is that they’ve released more information concerning their upcoming beta tests and just when you might be able to get an invite of your own.
Although a closed beta test started up in December, there was no sign-up available for anyone in the public to get involved. We assume that it was limited to internal testers, friend and family, and most likely some of the top Guild Wars guilds. However, that still left most fans without a chance to get in. That will be changing soon.
Starting in February, they will begin to hold larger tests for the game. Although the ArenaNet blog mentions that they will be inviting “select press” to participate in testing, they also noted that March and April will see an aggressive increase in the number of people who will be invited to the events. Likely that means some of you might well be able to participate around that time.
Although there is no sign up form just yet, you can rest assured that we’ll let you know once there is – right after we’ve finished filling it out ourselves.
