This is a pretty big year for the MMO space, and one of the bigger titles that will be seeing a release is the Western version of TERA. Although it has already been out in Korea for some time now, En Masse and Frogster have been busily adapting it for audiences in North America and Europe, respectively. It won’t be long until players will have a chance to give it a spin now that they’ve opened up beta applications for both regions.
While several MMOs will be coming out this year, TERA is notable for a few reasons. The most evident of them is the combat system that the game employs. Dubbed as an “Action MMO” the game features more direct player activity in combat. Spells need to be manually aimed toward enemies, attacks can be dodged, and the whole affair should seem more dynamic than the bulk of the genre’s traditional systems. Additionally, the game will feature a political system, giving players a chance to have some level of control over areas of the world, including taxes, shops, and PvP flagging.
Beta sign ups can be found for both the European region and North American region.
