The Internet hasn’t finished exploding over the news coming out of Blizzcon today. If free Diablo 3 for WoW annual pass subscribers wasn’t enough, the next World of WarCraft expansion has been announced: the Mists of Pandaria. Yes, you read the correctly. Padaria. Pandarens. Playable Pandas. In fact, playable Pandaren Monks. What originally started as an April Fools joke from 2005 where Blizzard poked a bit of fun at EverQuests 2′s /pizza command is now becoming a reality (well, to an extent).
This is another case where information is still coming out, but we do know that Pandaren’s will be playable, and we do know that it will also introduce the Monk class. It will be interesting to know what other races will be able to access the Monk class, but for certain, both sides will be getting Monks one way or the other, because the Panda-men will be both an Alliance and Horde race. This makes them the first duo-fractioned race in WoW.
Beyond that, information will continue to come out over the course of today and the rest of Blizzcon, no doubt. We’ll be keeping this updated as it does.
UPDATE #1 – According to PC Gamer, they overheard that the new expansion will also bring in “new PVE scenarios, a pet battle system and a new talent system.”
UPDATE #2 – The official site for the expansion is now available.
UPDATE #3 – And the official trailer is now up:
