When Season One for League of Legends came to a close, it left players with one big question: What will happen to our rankings when Season Two begins? Every player who plays ranked games in League of Legends is assigned an ELO score, which both shows how good they are compared to their fellow players, as well as playing a key role in the match-making system the game employs. Many have wondered what sort of a reset would happen with Season Two, if ELO scores would remain as is, if they would be reset, or if there would be some sort of a soft reset.
It seems the latter most of those options has been chosen. Instead of leaving the scores as they were – which would have likely made it difficult for newer players to rise through the ranks – Riot has decided to perform a soft reset. Not every player will be returned to the default ELO level, but instead they will be placed near “certain milestones” based on their performance in Season One.
Further details on what these milestones, and more information in general on the rest, will be made clearer as Season Two approaches.
The logic behind going with a soft reset is certainly there, and a significant portion of the playerbase has been asking for that exact solution. Still, opinions will vary – do you like this solution?
