League of Legends Developer Riot Games Picked Up by Tencent Holdings

League of Legends developer Riot Games announced late last Friday that they have been acquired by Tencent Holdings, who recently gained the majority stake in the company.  Tencent is a leading integrated Internet services provider in China, and could potentially offer up a fair amount of new resources for Riot. That is something that could potentially be very good news for fans.

Of course, acquisitions can often lead to some worry on the part of customers, afraid that their gaming experience might be changing soon. In this case, Tencent has stated that Riot will not only be maintaining their current headquarters, and the existing management team will still be running the show.

Additionally, with this recent development, Riot Games have stated that they will be hiring aggressively and they are planning to continue further development on League of Legends, as well as new projects. This means we might want to keep a look out for new game announcements from Riot soon.
